Maddie versus Baby!

Sandi is now at 27 weeks.

That means plenty of jabs and dropkicks from the munchkin living inside her.

And while that may keep Mom up at night, it doesn't seem to be fazing our little pug one bit.

(keep an eye out at the 10 second mark, and keep the sound up for the trademark pug snore)

26 weeks, 4 days and Modified Bedrest Again

Better safe than sorry! I'm having quite a few contractions, but not enough to land me at the hospital. Thank goodness! My cervix seems to be thinning a bit but still within normal limits so we are taking the safe route. I am still allowed to work which is a very good thing!

On a positive note, my husband is treating me like a QUEEN! I mean, don't get me wrong, I always get royal treatment i.e. dinner, foot rubs, back rubs...BUT NOW.....I don't even have to get my own water!! AWESOME!

Jon is gonna be such a good dad!

Delivery Day Role Play

I pity the poor nurse who has to care for us at Riverside Methodist when the big day arrives. We are going to need 24/7 supervision.

UPDATE: Completed my glucose tolerance test this morning. Here's a little suggestion...don't try to drink tons of sugar on an empty stomach at 8am. No matter how much one LOVES sugar there is just badness that happens that early. After a brief period of time spent gagging with my husband coaching me through some breathing techniques and a few disgusting swallows, I made it to the lab in the appropriate amount of time.

As for baby, she is doing well. We saw parts of her brain, heart, stomach, and kidneys for a second time on ultrasound today. Dr. Bell thinks she is doing well and will be around 7 lovely pounds at full term. That makes me happy!!

Trying on clothes!

We're at Target. Decided to have our little one try on some clothes and see what fits. I think these may be just a weeee bit too big.

Relaxed.

There is something perfectly relaxing to sitting on the couch and just feeling my baby thwack the heck out of Sandi's tummy.

Best friends. Already.

On the whole, Maddie is one cuddly critter.

It's just that normally she prefers doing so down by our legs or even...

Cute, eh?

Well, as of late, Maddie has taken a decidedly different position when it comes to cuddling up to Mom.

Apparently Maddie wants to be the first one to hug our little girl.

Kicks, Punches, And A Whole Lot Of Money

The last two weeks have been amazing. Our little girl has gone from random kicks and punches to reacting to touch. She also kicks so hard now at 23 weeks that you can see my shirt or a piece of paper move. Incredible.

Also, this past Saturday Jon and I went to register for our little one. After 3.5 hours in Buy Buy Baby we have almost completed our registry. We had such a good time! Jon, the self-proclaimed master of the scanning gun, enjoyed his job SO MUCH he would only let me scan a pack of crib sheets! Don't get between a man and his gun....even if it's digital and in a baby store!

The trip was also a revelation. We knew a baby was expensive, but registering provides a whole new perspective. We're hoping Jon can do what he can to get child labor laws repealed as soon as possible so our little one can start earning her keep! Ha!

As for me, I'm feeling great, though my balance isn't what it used to be! Keep checking back here for updates... we'll post here and there to keep all our friends and family informed on what's up!

Realization.

With the NFL strike looming, I was thinking about how I may be able to get my football fix by picking up the new Madden game when it comes out in August.

Then I realized something.

Our beautiful little girl will almost certainly be born before this game even comes out.

I guess despite the gorgeous growing tummy on my bride and the swift kicks and punches I periodically feel from the munchkin, it still doesn't feel quite as real to me as it does Sandi.

Then you have stupid, little realizations like I had today. The debut of this new football game is right around the corner.

And my baby will be here before then.

My baby.

How very, incredibly, spectacularly awesome.

It's a girl!

Time to buy a shotgun and start practicing my "boyfriend speech".

If I start work on it now, hopefully in a few years I'll find a way to make sure it doesn't end with "....or I will kill you."

But I digress.

Yesterday Sandi and I had our ultrasound with our brand new doctor here in Columbus.

And he was great.

He was very sweet with Sandi and even conducted the ultrasound himself. That's a first among the other ultrasounds we've had so far.

He pronounced our baby as a girl. And if he's wrong he promised us dinner on him. But based on what we saw, I don't think I'll be making reservations at the Refectory anytime soon.

Obviously, Sandi is thrilled, and so am I. As Sandi says, apparently I'm destined to take care of women.

Karma, eh?

And yes, I'm already getting misty eyed when I see this commercial that's been on during the NCAA Tournament...

We're already starting to bounce names around. Have any suggestions? Let us know! Leave a comment!

2D/3D ultrasound-16 weeks

We thoroughly enjoyed our appointment at Ultrasona. Thanks to my friend, Whitney, for the referral. They were so warm and welcoming. The ultrasound lasted for about an hour. The sonographer was sweet, excited and answered all of our questions. We were able to get 21 2D/3D pictures, a video of the whole ultrasound to show friends and family, and a dvd of all the still shots. I hope to go back around 34 weeks for another picture of our little angel.

Knock, Knock.

Who's there?

The munchkin in Sandi's tummy.

It seems our little one has developed an interest in tickling her Mom.

Sandi started noticing it a few days ago - a feeling that was just a little different.

And now we're pretty sure our little one is already developing their swimmer's thighs - Kicking and punching and dancing until Mom feels a little tickle.

Sandi is loving it. It's yet another reminder that he or she is there.

As if the enlarged tummy isn't enough of a hint.

This is awesome stuff.

It's definitely a Keeling.

So there we are at our 2nd checkup since Sandi became pregnant.

We're excited to see the new ultrasound because he/she may look more like a baby and less like a seahorse.

We weren't disappointed.

The first view of Junior showed him standing straight up in his lovely living quarters.

Unfortunately, things were a weeee bit cramped as Mom's bladder was perhaps a bit more full than the nurse requested.

After a brief respite to give the little one a little more space, we tried again and saw the baby crouching carefully in the bottom right corner of the picture.

At first, me as the Father was a little curious of my spawn's desire to stay so still.

Then WHAMMO.

He/She sprang out of the corner, legs and arms extended, then just as quickly crouched back down.

The little one was screwing with us. Definitely a Keeling.

Here's the new bundle of joy.

As for Mommy, she's still feeling exhausted and sometimes sick.

Fortunately, she has me to beat up on and Junior's big sister to take care of her.

Ours.

This was our first glimpse at our little one.

Absolutely amazing.

And I think he/she has my eyes.

Telling Dad!

On the early morning of November 22, 2010, I decided to take a pregnancy test. I had spent the entire night at work hanging on stable surfaces because I was so dizzy. I figured I was coming down with the flu because it was four days before my expected lady friend was supposed to visit. I took the test and three minutes later....positive, positive positive! I was so shocked that at 7:30AM I ran all the way to the grocery store for FIVE more tests....and yes...I took them all.

Then it was time to tell the husband! On such short notice, I had a difficult time making it special. I went to the grocery store and bought a helium filled "good luck" balloon with a "congratulations" small arrangement of candy inside. (It was short notice!!) I then picked out a special card and wrote a sweet message. I dropped the arrangement off at the concierge desk of our apartment building and ran upstairs. Waking him was impossible. He refuses to get up and could not care less about this mysterious package at the front desk. After an hour of poking him he finally ran downstairs for the package. He opened it in front of me and was so happy. It was an amazing day!!

We're parents.

No one knows yet, except us.

But it's pretty amazing that these two have decided to procreate, eh?
